  • What types of soil do you sell and what are they good for?

    Our most popular soil blends:

Premium Garden Blend, a rich blend of organics that is most commonly used in flower beds and vegetable gardens. Natural plant food, this blend requires no other fertilizer to produce optimum plant growth.

    # I Blend, a well-blended mix of manures and organics that will supply all the natural plant food required for starting your lawns and gardens.

Lawn Blend, which comes with extra sand, is particularly good for lawn prep and helps with root growth and drainage.

  • How much product do I need to cover a certain area?

To determine the amount of product you need, multiply the length of your plot by its width and then divide by 27. This will give you yardage at a foot deep. Add 30% to this to make up for settling.

  • How do I get soils or landscape products?

There are three ways to do this:

We can load your pickups or trailers in our yard; material is charged by the yard or tonne.

We also have a Bag Your Own area, where we supply the bags and you bag the product.

Finally, you can arrange delivery. We have four delivery truck sizes: our Small Dump Truck holds 1 to 4 yards, our Single Axle Truck holds up to 8 yards, our Tandem Truck holds up to 14 yards, and our Slinger truck holds up to 15 yards.

  • How do natural and organic fertilizers differ from chemical ones?

Natural and organic fertilizers differ from chemical ones in that they feed your plants while building the soil. Soils with lots of organic material remain loose and airy, hold more moisture and nutrients, foster the growth of soil organisms, and promote healthier plant root development.

If only chemicals are added to the soil, it gradually loses its organic matter and microbiotic activity. As this material is used up, the soil deteriorates, becoming compact, lifeless, and less able to hold water and nutrients.

  • Do you do custom soil blends?

Yes, we often work with landscape architects and gardeners to create soil blends formulated for specific projects.

  • What does recycled soil entail?

We recycle soil, meaning that we take soil from gardens and work sites, screen it for rocks and large pieces of waste, and add natural and organic fertilizers. While rare, it is possible for soils to contain small pieces of waste (i.e. glass or plastic) that the screener cannot remove. We do our best to keep on top of weed control, but we cannot guarantee weed-free soil blends or manure. To ensure the quality of the soil, we send samples every month to a lab in Vancouver.

  • Do you have a price list available for all products and services?

Yes. See our prices for services here and for products here.

  • Do you offer discounts?

Landscapers and contractors are eligible for a discount on all soil products (no discount on aggregates).

  • Does your fleet include a slinger truck for delivery of soils and aggregates?

Yes, we have our own slinger truck and can arrange deliveries for you. The slinger conveys the soil directly into your site, minimizing the need for shoveling or for a machine to spread the products.
